He previously was a staff member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation where he held the position of Democratic General Counsel and Policy Director. He was Policy Director for FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel.
For several years he managed government relations for Verizon Communications, and ran his own public affairs firm, Odom Consulting. He began his career as a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Henry Wingate in the Southern District of Mississippi.
He is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Louisiana State University.
